EMERGING LEADERS CONVENE IN CHICAGO

EMERGING LEADERS CONVENE IN CHICAGO

September 2019

We Raise doesn’t just support leaders where they are, we invest in where they’re going next. That’s why, each year, we bring together leaders from our grant programs to a three-day convening in Chicago. Last week, we welcomed 22 leaders from 20 organizations from around the country, all working to address major issues in their communities. The conference-style gathering is designed to celebrate their work, provide opportunities for them to be refreshed, develop valuable skills, and be encouraged by networking with other like-minded emerging leaders.

My leadership capability grew through being in community with amazingly gifted and passionate leaders. The advice and encouragement I received from my peers at the convening helped renew my spirit for the work. Iron truly sharpens iron.”

The Convening had a perfect mix of practical leadership and organizational strategies along with personal development. I left feeling encouraged and empowered to be more bold in my leadership and fearless in pursuit of personal growth, and with renewed energy for the work I’m doing in my community. I have never felt more seen and cared for as a nonprofit leader than at this event.”

My leadership was impacted tremendously. This might have been the best crash course for an emerging leader in the nonprofit world. The access to nonprofit leaders and their wealth of knowledge was amazing. I will be able to directly apply so much of what I learned right away. I left inspired and refreshed not only from the speakers and panelists that we interacted with but also from the work of We Raise and the other grantees.”

We believe investing in leaders and their programs when they are getting started can have a catalytic impact on both the program, and the kind of leader that person will be long into the future.
