Transforming Your Board into a Fundraising Force
Mobilizing our board of directors to maximize revenue generation is a major goal for staff and board leadership. We realize that not everyone on our boards will ask for money, yet we know that fundraising is based on relationships and that all board members should feel encouraged and empowered to forge and nurture those connections. In this webinar, presenter Kay Sprinkel Grace, originator of the “AAA” model (Ambassador, Advocate, Asker) for board engagement, will explore ways to construct a motivational environment for board members so they will feel confident about taking on new roles. She will offer new ideas about why board members are critical to your fundraising program and how to engage them more deeply – focusing on the role of mission, vision, values, and strategic recruitment in transforming your board into a fundraising force. She will also introduce us to the importance of the “PQ” (Passion Quotient) in board engagement.

Kay Sprinkel Grace is passionate about philanthropy and has devoted the last 30 years to the nonprofit sector, providing seminal thought, habit-breaking strategies, challenges to board and staff, and reengineering the vocabulary of fundraising. Her seven books and frequent speaking engagements across the globe reflect her restless quest for an ever-improved capacity of organizations to truly serve their communities.
A graduate of Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., Sprinkel Grace has built on a career in journalism and education to create a business practice and reputation that draws from the best of both. She has been recognized by Stanford with numerous awards for her volunteer work, including the highest award for volunteer service, The Gold Spike.
Sprinkel Grace has received the Henry A. Rosso Medal for lifetime achievement in ethical fundraising from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, and in 2016 was in the first group of professionals to be named Distinguished Fellows by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). She was a featured presenter at the AFP International Conference in San Francisco in 2017 and has spoken frequently at the International Fundraising Congress in The Netherlands.
Sprinkel Grace works regularly with boards and staff to increase the capacity of organizations to fulfill their mission and vision. Clients include public media (KQED, OPB), health (Sutter Health Foundations, Alameda Health Systems), arts and culture (Djerassi Resident Artist Program, Smuin Ballet), human services (San Francisco Marin Food Bank, Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, Futures Without Violence) and others.
